Merced ,  CA  95348 209-383-4606 ldr_chair@sbcglobal.net Dear Fellow Runners:                                                                                      As most of you are aware I have been trying to establish a road series here in the Central California Association for some time now. Recently I learned that USATF has an annual association grant program that we are eligible to apply for, that can be used for a variety of projects.       As the Long Distance Running Chairman I would like to apply for this grant, and, if successful, use the funds to resolve two LDR problems. First, I would like to set up an e-meeting room, similar to that was used by the Southern California Association for LDR meetings. Secondly, in exchange for incorporating a clubs race(s) into the association's Road Series, I would use the association grant to have the race course(s) certified at no cost to the race organizers.  Below is a list of races that I am considering incorporating into the 2008 Road Series. If you know of a specific race that you think would make a good addition to the series or if your organization is interested in hosting a race, please contact me.       At the present time I have two people very interested in setting up a Trail and Ultra Committee, but I need people to form a LDR Road Committee to expedite the process of setting up the Road Series. These individuals will be asked to contract and address local running clubs/organizations in their area about incorporating their race(s) into the Road Series.  If you are interested please contact me at ldr_chair@sbcglobal.net or using the information on the association website.   Thank you,   John Burnett Long Distance Chairman Central California Association USATF   ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS Rules for the LDR series:  http://www.usatf.org/about/rules/2006 Scoring criteria for the LDR series( both team and individuals) points will accumulated throughout the series and will be based on the teams' or individuals' finishing place compared to other USATF runners in the race. 1st 12 points 4th 08 points 7th 05 points 10th 02 points 2nd 10 points 5th 07 points 8th 04 points 11th 01 points 3rd 09 points 6th 06 points 9th 03 points The 2007 Association's road series will be comprised of the same races that were held in 2006 but with some Minor changes.  A Trail and Ultra series is currently being developed and with most of the races possibly being run in the Fish Camp area.
